Ely Sluder

For the most part, I focus my practice on business transactional matters such as business formation and start-up, contracts, trademarks, intellectual property licensing, along with some real estate, asset protection, and estate planning. Serving closely-held business owners as their “virtual in-house counsel,” I handle a wide range of client issues such as mergers and acquisitions, asset sales and purchases, commercial leases, general contract drafting and review, and dispute resolution/business “divorces.”

I received my law degree from the Arizona State University College of Law in 2003 (which, in 2006, changed its name to the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law). While attending there, I studied business/corporate law, internet law, real estate, and intellectual property. I completed the mediation clinic while in law school and have helped mediate many disputes during my career. Prior to attending law school, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Human Communication, with an emphasis on logic, rhetoric, and conflict resolution, from Arizona State University in 2000.

I am a veteran, having served as a Combat Medic in the US Army from 1992-1995--fortunately, I never saw combat. After receiving my law degree, I spent time as General Counsel for an internet company and, for a period of time before the real estate market meltdown, I was the co-owner of, and General Manager/General Counsel for, a licensed real estate brokerage firm in Arizona.

While living in the Valley of the Sun was nice, 300 days of sunshine a year can get boring after 15 years, so in 2010 my family and I relocated to New Jersey. I did so not only to experience seasons again (something I missed after growing up in Northern California), but also so that my children can grow up near their cousins and other family members who live in New Jersey and Connecticut.
